Paint Your Own traditional wooden fold-out fan

Do you have a creative child who LOVES to be crafty and fancies a challenge of painting something quite unique?

Look no further – these PYO fan kits are the perfect way to let your child really focus on painting and how the mechanisms of a fan works.

These traditional wooden, fold-out paper fans are the perfect summer craft for painting in the sunshine!

Folding fans originated in Japan. They are believed to have developed from thin wooden tablets used for writing during the 8th century. Traditional fans were often made from silk, wood or paper and were painted by artisans using inks or watercolours. Common designs include landscapes, flowers and Japanese script which is refered to as Shodo.

Provided is a set of carefully chosen watercolours which can be mixed to create your own palette (use white for pastel colours). Experiment mixing colours. Gently press the fan flat whilst painting so the surface is easier to paint on. A thin paintbrush is provided, if you keep the tip upright so it’s light on the paper, this will make your painting thinner and more detailed. Try not to make your paintbrush too dry or too wet!

Comes with useful little sheet for guidance.
