Being of HUGE fan of Netflix’s The Last Kingdom, we had to see Bamburgh Castle’s exhibition. They even had a battle training session for the kiddos lead by Uhtred of Bebbanburg’s great grandson 😀  There was also a sweet market outside in the courtyard. Oh and if you can stomach it – there’s a creepy dungeon to explore, too! Love this castle – so much to see, a lovely cafe and gift shop!
The castle is located right next to the sand dunes which are SUCH fun to frolic in. Every time we’ve visited Northumberland it’s always windy and the waves are mega, but we love a dramatic seascape and misty mornings.
I was desperate to see puffins, so we did the Farne Islands Puffin Cruise which in all honestly, I was sick on… but it was fabulous to see them hanging out on the rocks. Be warned – the boat can be VERY unstable and I felt sick 100% of the time (which is actually unlike me) and the smell of fish near the puffins was overwhelming (not selling it that well am I haha) The scenery was magnificent though – just check the weather conditions before sailing. In all fairness, I wasn’t feeling well before the boat trip, so it was 100% my fault!
We camped at the local campsite Caravan & Camping club campsite as we were staying with family, then we went off grid (curtesy of @park4night)Â
We’ve stayed in this spot a few times now on this coast and it is absolutely one my top off-grid stays! Definitely recommend!
